Term Break Staycation

This is the first term break that I've worked all the way through, so it felt a bit like lockdown. But I still managed to take off a few days and with Lucas working from home he got to see the girls too. I did some kid swapping with other moms so that the kids had playdates at various houses so I could work and then on another day the other kids all came over to ours to let the other moms work. It was actually a win win win since the moms all got time to work uninterrupted and the kids all got to play with their friends.

With the whole gang over it was a built in party. Fish and chips picnic. Both ages played together well.

Wren doing a trial run of riding the bus with her friends to visit the school she'll be going to next year, SWIS (South Wellington Intermediate School). They are all more than excited for the change...

I asked where the girls wanted to go during the break and they suggested the National Library. They had been there for a school field trip. I was excited to check it out and that they are at an age where we can all enjoy the museum together.

Steps up the National Library. I think this is called Brutalist Architecture. Term certainly fits.

Beehive, seat of government as seen from the National Library.

A visit to the zoo with these monkeys. Our favorites were the chimpanzees.

A fine place to sit and eat corn chips

The last weekend the girls had a double sleepover and a nice evening for a swim.

This term we are trying something new, they girls walk themselves to school and back home afterwards. Since Lucas works from home he is there when they get home. They make themselves an after school snack. It's all been a game changer and has allowed me to not have to rush to get there by 3pm.  The girls are growing up...

First day of term 4, last term of the year and Wren's last term at Ōwhiro Bay School!
