Takeaways

For a wee while now we've been reducing our plastic use. That has meant making our own breakfast oats and bready products. Lucas has perfected our sourdough. Good bread and bagels are hard to find here so it serves a double purpose.

On Saturday nights we have a tradition of making veggie sushi and watching a family movie together. The girls love the picnic sushi.

So we are no strangers to making our all our own meals. But when we started Level 3 and takeout became available we were excited, along with the rest of the country, for the possibilities.

Lines of cars literally stretched for miles, waiting at midnight on the day McDonalds and KFC drive thru opened... Fast food restaurants in Wellington actually ran out of food!

When takeout started up we biked to Island bay to buy a 'contact less' lunch from Patricia's Pie shop. Few things are more Kiwi than the handheld meat (called mince) pie. The girls and I sat out on the Island Bay pier and watched a hardy swimmer make his way to the island. We biked home with a warm pie in the my bike basket for Lucas.
