Level 4 NZ

On Wednesday at midnight Level 4 began. Jacinda is such an amazing PM. She is calm and steady, caring but strong. She established the alert levels (1-4) for this crisis so that by the time she announced the level was up to 4 we'd be ready for it.

Self icelation begins (Wren's writing). Nevermind that the hose to our washing machine just broke and that something (a mouse or rat) has died in our wall. Perfect timing.

Now we are a week in. Hard to believe that this time last week Lucas and I went out to an actual restaurant for date night and the girls were at their friends' house for a sleepover.

With the library closed Quinn is jonesing for books. She set up a bookshop/library with all the books we own.

There's baking to do. Quinn has a favorite chocolate chip cookie recipe she makes.

There's tending the flock. Wren has a way with these chooks.

There's knitting while listening to audio books. Although I've taught Wren a few times before, this time she was all in!

Quinn was writing a story called "the carrot cake" while she listened.

We are also lucky that we live a block from the beach. We go down there once a day now.

Tidepooling in Owhiro Bay...special prize for the one who finds a starfish first!

Quinn can spend hours playing with objects, making up stories for them. Listening to her set up this horse stable she kept putting the horses in "quarantine".  Social distancing even in the imaginary world...

We have been playing soccer out on the front lawn every day. Yesterday we had our last day of sunshine for a while. Wren laughs so hard when we play that sometimes she becomes incapacitated! At dinner we each say what our favorite part of the day was and hands down today was soccer.

A southerly has blown in now with sideways rain and wind that shakes the whole house. Some indoor times ahead.

Hope everyone is safe, well and sane inside their own bubbles.
