Oamaru, Steam Punk Capital of New Zealand

The next day we headed to Oamaru, the steam punk capital of New Zealand. Steam punk imagines a sci-fi world, like mad max, in which technology stops at the victorian age--steam powered. I'm not sure why the town gained the monkier but they embrace it.The quaint Victorian village is filled with crafty shops and eclectic collections of old junk and the shop attendants are dressed the part.
