A week with Skipper

Quinn's kindergarten class has a resident teddy bear named Skipper. Every week Skipper goes home with one of the kids and they enjoy a week of everyday activities together. It's a pretty cute way of introducing the class to the home lives of students. At the end of the week the parents send in photos of what the week was like.

Here is a week in the life of Quinn and Skipper...

Friday after school playdate with Quinn's friend Amelia and Wren's twin friends Mia and Kaira. Amelia's mom, my friend, came over too.

Bedtime with skipper

While waiting for Wren to finish her Saturday morning piano lesson Quinn likes to climb this big tree.

Wren and Quinn (and skipper) would go climbing every weekend if they could.

Climbing...

Climb away!

Wren climbed the rope all the way to the top! The guys who work at the gym couldn't believe it.

And that's her, just below the skylight, above the climbing wall. She climbed all the way to the roof! Then she hung out up there for about 15 min.

Even the employees were impressed!

After climbing we sat out on the dock (climbing gym is at the waterfront) and checked out the sea stars, mussels and jellyfish in the water.

I looked under the dock and said "seems like a sting ray would like it under here"...and who should swim by...

The girls helped out in the garden, adding worm poo from our worm bins. You know it's turned to winter when the kale, chard, beets and spinach go in...Mulch for the garden is seaweed collected from the beach.

The girls are finally old enough for us to go on a bike ride together! We rode around the ocean road to Island Bay playground.

Playdate with Quinn's friend Leah. Since this term began, Leah has broken four bones, and both arms, on the school playground! Homemade carrots are tastier than the grocery store version...Leah's mom, Amie, is a teacher in Quinn's kindergarten class so she sees the girls' school life. She said Quinn, Leah and Amelia are all very competitive but in a constructive, encouraging way. She says she's never seen such positive competition at this age.

On these nice nights we eat dinner early and then walk down to the beach to play before bedtime.

Skipper now moves onto the next five year old.
