Spring heat
November here is normally wet and windy. This year has broken all records for the number of rainless days. It's been summer like, and little wind. Everyone in the country has been under water restrictions and the Hutt River and Lake Taupo are unswimmable due to toxic algae. Global climate change down under.
With four days off between projects, I wanted to take advantage of having my afternoons free so invited a herd of families to come join us at Princess Bay beach after school. It was so fun to hit the beach with friends.
Phoebe, Quinn and Amelia. The water looks so inviting but is so cold!

It doesn't feel like the Christmas season. I haven't heard any Christmas tunes, there are no lights up on the houses (gets dark at 10pm, no one would see them!), and no trees up with decorations (how do you keep a cut tree alive in this heat?!). But we had Miriam and Quincy over to make Christmas cookies to try to inject a little of the season into summer.

Of course, the evening ended as many Kiwi evenings do, with a picnic of fish and chips.
