Halloween Down Under

About half the Kiwi population hates Halloween. They don't like the idea of children knocking on a stranger's door and begging for candy. While true, Halloween is also just plain fun. That's been my motto when asked.

We went to Bindi's house to trick-or-treat in their small neighborhood just up the road. It's all families from Owhiro Bay school and there's no traffic so the kids ran as a pack around the hood. Halloween in the summer time is so much less dark and wet.

Their substitute teacher lives in the neighborhood and challenged them all to a trick before their treat, which was very cute.



With Halloween such an unknown entity parents aren't sure if they should dress up. These two went all out.

Afterwards we went to Island Bay which was PACKED with trick-or-treaters. People actually knocking on strangers' doors! It was a wild night. We agreed to three houses there before reaching candy overload and heading home. See, good plain old fun.
