Snow!

Bindi and her girls, Summer and Sisi, invited us up to stay in their bach (family holiday home) over the school holidays. We felt very lucky to get to visit for the week. It's in a town called Ohakune that sits at the base of Mt Ruhepehu. It's a short 20 min drive from there up to the ski runs. I was a little anxious about driving the 4 hours up there with the girls, mostly because of left side driving on the the narrow winding roads. But it all went without a hitch.

Our first day there we suited up and hit the slopes. We got lucky with a perfect weather day. Mt. Ruhepehu in the distance.

Sledding is called tobogganing here and they had a slope set up for it. In true Kiwi fashion it had been just a dangerous free for all, with parents running after children as they headed for the lodge's wall or a pile of lava rocks at high speed.

Much safer now by Kiwi standards. Wren and Summer going downhill fast!

Quinn and Sisi took a break from tobagganing to build a snow fort

We got in our year's worth of snow in one day with snow ball fights,

snow angels,

and skiing. Bindi took each of the girls for a few runs skiing on Summer and Sisi's skis. Their first time!

Hot chips and hot chocolate round out an awesome day in the snow
