5!
Five is a big one. It's the end of an era. And the beginning of a new one. On Quinn's birthday we had her 'happy last day' at preschool where she make a canoe out of wood, a crown, and added to the kakahu (maori cloak) with a homemade beaded necklace. All newly 5 year-olds adorn the kakahu with an item and it is now full of the taonga (treasures) of those that have moved on. Her key teacher, Rachel (below), read aloud a piece she'd written on Quinn. It was a really sweet moving-on ceremony.

We had a little cupcake to share for her birthday that evening, complete with sparkler that Quinn was afraid of.

And on Sunday Quinn had a birthday party with all her friends from her time in preschool.

In New Zealand kids start kindergarten when they turn five so the next day Quinn started school!
