Wren's writings
Wren can read and write now. She got a journal for her birthday and the first thing she did was sit down and write a story. Now she's decided that journal is going to be for awards.
An entry from the award journal. Y(why) you ask?

Wren one afternoon wanted to make herself a credit card. She insisted that in the photo she need not smile. Lucas and Wren collaborated in making this Magic Power Credit Card. She made up all the text. When they were finished making it she was devastated that it wouldn't really allow her any purchase power.

For the Christmas season we got one of those advent calendars that has little doors. The doors open to small drawings of things like an elf carrying a mushroom or a red bird. Wren was so excited about opening it on the first of December that she created a countdown calendar leading up to the advent calendar.

When you have a game design Dad you get to invent cool games. Lucas started this one (called Top Trumps) with the girls in which they design cards with competing characters (like Lovey the Mouse or Cutie the Hamster, Quinn's cards). I think it's a precursor to Dungeons and Dragons.

Lucas describing the game "The girls decided on brains, muscles, humor, and heart for character attributes. From there they drew the characters, and if needed gave them names. It was interesting to see Quinn start with established characters: Doc McStuffins, etc; and Wren went with real people: Mom, Nani. But pretty soon they both started making characters up. The next step was to get them to give each character numbers for the attributes. This was initially a challenge, as they both wanted to max out each character. We worked on comparisons — is “Dog” funnier than “Poppy the Pillbug”? This worked, but it was a bit odd with the real-person cards. With Wren’s “Mom” card — which is clearly the “top trump” — Wren asked if she needed to stick to the 1-20 range for “heart”, or if she could go higher, “like a million or something”. It was very, very sweet."
Wren surprised me with the 'mom' card. With it I feel like I could win any battle. Especially against Cutie the Hamster.
