Winter has arrived
It had been a fairly mild winter before now. A week ago a southerly storm blew in and just hasn't quit. It's been in the 30s and blowing sideways rain for days now. This weekend we actually just stayed at home. Anything outdoors or trying to go from indoor to indoor would have just meant getting cold and soaked. It was pretty nice actually. A lazy mellow weekend makes you feel ready for the week ahead.
The storm brought in our first snow in the Rimutakas across the harbor

Now it really feels like winter. Unfortunately, when the wind blows from the south it creates a backdraft in our gas fireplace so we have to turn it off just when it's coldest. It makes us appreciate the heat source all the more.
