Four!
I can't believe Quinn is 4. It's crazy how time flies. I still get to spend weekday time with her and we have a great time together. She has her 4 year old loves--mr. big nose (who she still naps with. Full name--Mr. Big Nose Sofia Kana formerly Mr. Big Nose Tarantula Kana), Doc McStuffins, her sparkly shoes, 'reading' aloud and being read to, arts and crafts, swinging, swimming and playing with Wren. She makes me laugh and gives huge hugs and kisses. Every night I put her down to bed and she comes back down the stairs 15 minutes later. She walks slowly over and asks to see the stars. It would be irritating if it wasn't so cute. That, and her reaction to seeing the stars when we step out the back. Her amazement never dims.

A week beforehand Wren made her a calendar where she could cross off the days until her birthday

A few nights before Quinn's party Lucas and I began work on a pinata.
Pig Pinata drying by the fire

On Sunday morning we had Quinn's bday party at one of her preschools, the playcentre.
We set up a doctoring station, with gauze and band aids, for stuffed toys.

Pig pinata in action.

Kiwis always have a perfect pinata stick around, a cricket bat.

The weather cooperated for a treasure hunt in the backyard. Quinn deciphering a clue...

Wren was a great big sister during the party, insisting that we have noisemakers and hats

Birthday wishes

On her actual birthday, Tuesday, we walked to school in the morning. Quinn and Wren like to pretend they are their horses, Trot and Lucy, as we walk down and the swing along the way is a special treat.

Quinn went to kindergarten for half the day where the whole school sang her happy birthday in Maori during Kapa Haka. I picked her up for lunch and then after school Quinn wore her new home-drawn leotard for tap class.

We all picked up Lucas from work and tried out New Zealand sushi.
