Moved!

We moved in friday! But no internet yet.

We have been loving the sunroom and a place to call home. Still working through all the things in disrepair. The fridge has frozen all our food solid, the shower is either scalding or a trickle, the stoves knobs are broken or missing so I have to guess at the temp, the dishwasher doesn't start...at least our property manager is a superstar and very responsive. So I think here they just let the tenants find out what's wrong with the place. And what they decide to complain about. Cheaper that way.

Wren is loving school. She likes all the challenges and opportunities for play and the attention of being the new girl:)

The kindergarten next to wrens school was full. Until next year! So quinn has to go to the one in island bay. In the morning I walk down with the girls to drop off off wren and from there catch the bus with Quinn. We bus home for nap and then walk down again to pick up wren and catch the next bus back up. It can be quite complex. I am loving the walk down though. It goes through some secret trails and crosses owhiro stream.

Kindergarten philosophy here is a free-for-all. We are adjusting to it bit by bit. Quinn goes tues and thurs and so far I've stayed with her until she's comfortable on her own.

Lucas' term started this week and he managed to get everything in its right place by then. He gave the song and speech in Maori when they selected him for the official ceremony for new staff. In it, he spoke of being from the mountains of wyeast and valley of the willamette.

The Maori language and culture are amazingly pervasive. More on that later.

Two days ago I watched as the weather turned. From our sunroom we can look out to the south over island bay, harbor and the ocean. A big wall of clouds came in from the south and suddenly it's fall.

This is the girls bundled up in our kitchen this morning with no heat yet.
