February
I have some brief wifi time at the library so this will have to be short and sweet. In short, still looking for a place to live. In the hunt we've learned that the housing market is quite similar to portland. There are many expensive houses in bad disrepair. The few livable houses are packed with potential renters on open house days. So though we've applied, we haven't won any. We are in a losing position with no rental references in this country.
So we've kept at it. And in the meantime the girls and I are enjoying the life-we-almost-lived here in karori. I'd almost regret it except that in living here we've realized how moldy the house is. Lucas' cough gets worse in this environment. We have to close off one of the rooms to keep the mildew smell from permeating. So...I love the giant parrots that fill the sky with noise at night and I love the proximity to grocery store and library by it still feels like a good decision to leave it. As long as our next place is less moldy...
The sweet of it comes from new adventures and people and exploring the city as we search.
At andre and marinas in paraparaumu for a night away. Wren and Marina made lemonade from the lemon tree

Swimming onshore and then offshore

Plum overload!

An amazing collection of lais on hand

river swimming

Back in karori, wren took her swim test at the local pool. She loves swimming!

Our dining table and sleeping arrangements. Apparently our container is delayed. Sitting in dock in Singapore...

We got to see Morgan and Margaret from portland as they start their trip to the South Island. They brought us an amazing housewarming gift, more miralax

It has actually worked well to have the karori house to crash at. We have until the 20th when the new renters move in. At least it's still summer!
