Time to head up the mountain for some glorious snow. A day before going to a rental near Mt. Hood the owner contacted us to say a tree had fallen on the house. We saw more evidence of the wind storm on the way up to gov't camp. The second place we rented seemed to have escaped harm. It was a 1926 cabin near Rhododendron that we didn't realize until arriving was without central heat. A cold first night!

We sledded the first day at White River-just enough snow to have a great time. There were predictions of a snow storm that evening and I woke early with Q hoping to see it softly falling at the cabin. Not to be. But we caught it later in the day up at Timberline.



Cold, wet substances are only fun for so long for a 3-year old so Q and I went inside Timberline for hot cocoa while Wren and Lucas climbed up the slope and slid down a few more times.

That evening Uncle Nick joined us at the cabin and we stoked the big fireplace that warmed the house.





After breakfast the next morning the girls wanted one more trip to the snow so we drove up to government camp, despite Wren feeling like she was going to puke. And she did, after a round or two of sledding at Summit. Ah, what trip doesn't end with a stomach bug?
